PAPG Students Chapter Inauguarted at CIIT Abbottabad

The Pakistan Association of Petroleum Geologist (PAPG) is a very dynamic professional organization affiliated with the world renowned American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG). Through this channel, the Earth Sciences students and faculty members may readily communicate and collaborate with the petroleum industry and benefit from the PAPG provided they are members of a PAPG regional chapter.

In order to get a PAPG CIIT Abbottabad Chapter opened and be able to avail the associated opportunities, an event was organized in the premises of the Earth Sciences Department at the CIIT Abbottabad campus on October 11, 2013. The function was presided by the worthy Director, Prof. Dr. Shahid Khatak in the presence of Prof. Dr. Ishtiaq A. K. Jadoon, Chairman, Department of Earth Sciences, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Arif, Head of the Earth Sciences Department and Dr. Muhammad Tariq, Chief convener of the PAPG Students Chapter at CIIT, Abbottabad.

The following delegates represented the PAPG: Mr. Muhammad Zafarullah, (Vice Chairman, PAPG) as Chief Guest , Mr. Tahir Maqsood (Secretary, PAPG), Mr. Muhammad Akram Qureshi (Technical Coordinator, PAPG), Mr. Tariq Mehmood (University Liaison, PAPG) and Mr. Rashid Jamil Chauhan (Chief Treasurer, PAPG). A large number of Earth Sciences students and faculty members were present on the occasion. Besides, heads/ chairpersons of other departments as well as members of the administrative staff also attended the function.

The PAPG Vice Chairman presented a Memento to the Department of Earth Sciences and shields to Prof. Dr. Ishtiaq Khan Jadoon and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Arif. In return, the Department of Earth Sciences presented the honorary CIIT shields to the worthy chief guest and other PAPG delegates. Furthermore, the newly elected office bearers of the freshly inaugurated PAPG Students CIIT Abbotabad Chapter were adorned with the PAPG official tags.
