COMSATS University Islamabad, Abbottabad campus was honored today, 12 April 2019 to have on campus, His Excellency Mr Yusuke Shindo, who is the Minster/Deputy Chief of Mission, at Embassy of Japan, Islamabad and Ms. Yukiko Ban, third Secretary for Public Affairs Section at Embassy of Japan, Islamabad. Mr Yukiko delivered his talk to graduate and undergraduate students regarding Japan, the people of Japan, it’s culture, geography, educational history and Japanese economic assistance.
His Excellency Mr Yusuke Shindo showed the student how the nation of Japan worked hard and attained the status of the world’s top ranked economies. He said the Japanese children at very early age are taught to respect their elders and fellows. He asked from the audience if anyone knew about the day of independence of Japan, to which varied responses came. His Excellency explained that Japan never had an independence day. The country exists from the start of time and is located at an island which is much lesser in area as compared to Pakistan. Their first constitution of 7th century Japan said, “Harmony is to be valued”. Japan is a country where the rice was sold to finance the construction of an elementary school, by quoting the emperor of the time, he said, “If hundred sacks of rice are eaten, they are lost instantly, but if they are put towards education, they will become the ten-thousand or one million sacks of tomorrow.”
More than 400 students attended the sessions followed by question and answer session. At conclusion, a souvenir was presented to the diplomat by Dr Amjad Hassan on whose request His Excellency had consented to visit CUI Abbottabad campus. Lateron the Director CUI Abbottabad, Additional Registrar (Academics) campus met over a cup of tea to discuss possible future collaboration and student exchange opportunities.
