Welcome to the Centre of Advanced Drug Research (CADR) at COMSATS University. Through our website you can insight the innovative and collaborative work at CADR. At CADR we study the crucially important topics in science. They advance it, rather than just learning about it. The type of research being done defines the institution status so it plays a key role in the development of the institution. Our research group has contributed a lot in this regard. I am devoted to strengthen the splendid work contributed to the foundation of our research group.
In order to prepare our students to tackle different sought of problems in their research work we give them a strong qualitative and quantitative background which is the basis for their success to obtain good results.
COMSATS Community Development Unit (CCDU)
IntroductionCOMSATS Community Development Unit (CCDU) is an integral part of COMSATS University Islamabad, Abbottabad Campus (CUI), Abbottabad Campus. CUI Abbottabad is a part of the COMSATS (Commission on Science & Technology for Sustainable Development), an international organization, aiming at socio economic uplift of the third world through positive application of science and technology. Established in October 1994, COMSATS currently represents 21 developing countries across the three continents. CCDU has played vital role in the relief and rehabilitation of earthquake (2005), Conflict, Flood (2010) affected communities. CCDU believes in community empowerment and working with bottom up approach for the uplift of extremely vulnerable, marginalized and poorest of the poor in the society. CCDU is working with youth and children with the vision that they are agents of change and hold the key for the prosperous future and sustainably developed nation. For the achievement of this vision CCDU has launched Community Development Program, Professional Program, Environmental Development Program, and Disaster Management Program.

Student Start-up Business Center (SSBC)
Entrepreneurship and innovation are viewed as key contributors to global economic and social development of a country. University-based entrepreneurship ecosystems provide a supportive context in which entrepreneurship and innovation can thrive.
CUI, Student Startup Business Centre (SSBC) has been established with the support of Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, and the Promotion of Education in Pakistan Foundation, Inc. (USA). The goal of the program is promotion of talented students’ entrepreneurship and enhancing their practical learning experience at the Institute. The overarching objective of the Centre is to promote student startup businesses by offering necessary support both in the form of mentoring and initial financial resources through its Startup Entrepreneurship Fund. The SSBC will provide a continuous stream of student led businesses and innovations at CUI
Liscent
Life Sciences Center LiSCENT
A new Service Centre with the name of LiSCENT has been established. The main activities of LiSCENT are
- LiSCENT will coordinate and integrate the instructional and research activities of a broad range of faculty with interest in Chemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Pharmacognosy and Pharmacology, Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics.
- LiSCENT will be involved in the analyses in the areas of environment, nutritional, pharmaceutical, microbiological, and applied research and development. LSL will also cooperate with industrial clients to aid in the solution of their problems and conduct audits of facilities to evaluate their compliance with various Governmental regulations.
- LiSCENT will also be involved in Assistance in Quarantine
- LiSCENT will provide its Services to the academia, Industries, Research Institutes and other organizations like Hospitals, NGOs and Health department. These services will be a source of revenue for the labs.

1. Analytical Services
Providing expert chemical analyses for vitamins, botanicals, and nutritional supplements and cosmetics. The mission will be to become a trusted partner in the business of our clients in Pakistan by providing quality analytical testing, friendly client service and value-added consulting related to data interpretation.
2. Special Services in Microbiology & Biotechnology
Provide microbiological test of public-health significance from surface waters, ground waters and sediments for a variety of study objectives. The goals of the services are to:
- Provide quality microbiological analytical services to the institutes for the analysis of environmental samples for Microbes.
- Work with other government agencies, academic institutions and public utilities to develop and to test methods for detection or enumeration of microorganisms of public health significance in the environment.

CISCO Local Academy
COMSATS Cisco Local Academy
About Academy
Cisco Networking Academy Program is a comprehensive e-learning program that provides students with the Internet technology skills essential in a global economy. The Networking Academy delivers web-based content, online assessment, student performance tracking, hands-on labs, instructor training and support, and preparation for industry standard certifications.
Launched in October 1997 with 64 educational institutions in seven states, the Networking Academy has spread to more than 150 countries. Since its inception, over 1.6 Million students have enrolled at more than 10,000 Academies located in high schools, technical schools, colleges, universities, and community-based organizations. There are currently three possible tiers of training. Industry experts at Cisco Systems train the Instructor Trainers at the Cisco Academy Training Centers (CATCs), the CATC Instructors train Regional Academy Instructors and the Regional Academy Instructors train the Local Academy Instructors who then educate students.
Interested educational institutions are given the designation of Networking Academy after their employees get trained by Regional Academy. Trainees have to pass the exams on training. Educational institutions may play a role at one or more of these training levels. By the support of our worthy Director Mr. Haroon Rashid and HOD CITC, CIIT Abbottabad got the status of Cisco Local Academy. COMSATS Cisco Local Academy will deliver the range of services and support needed to grow tomorrow’s global workforce. Initially 08 employees from COMSATS Institute of Information Technology were enrolled in CCNA class on June 13, 2007 and this class successfully completed CCNA track in April 2008 under Cisco Certified Academy Instructors. Besides this CISCO Local Academy is also providing hand on experience and practical labs to students of different departments of the campus. Students of BTN carry out their practical assignments of Routing & Switching in Cisco Academy.
First CISCO Lab in NWFP
A Lab is established to equip students for hands on experience of CISCO devices such as routers, access points, & switches. This lab is adjacent to the Video Conferencing Room in Admin Block. This lab is equipped with 6 CISCO Routers, 3 CISCO manage switches & 14 Computers.
What we Do?
Main objective of COMSATS CISCO Local Academy Abbottabad is to equip students with theoretical & in-depth practical knowledge of networks & network devices. Initially CCLA has started CCNA certification program, which consists of four semester. COMSATS CISCO Local Academy Abbottabad has completed many CCNA v3.0 and Exploration Classes successfully.
