Program Overview
Ph.D. Environmental Sciences
The Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences (3-7 years program) provides education for effective contributions to sustainable solutions to environmental issues through research-oriented outcomes. The curriculum is designed by encompassing the knowledge of multiple domains including ecology, climate change, natural resource management, environmental engineering, hydrology, alternate energy, waste management, environmental hazards, biodiversity, sociology, and environmental monitoring and laws. Ph.D. program in Environmental Sciences is equally open to graduates of earth and environmental sciences as well as botany, zoology, microbiology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, computing, economics, and engineering to embark upon successful training in Environmental Sciences.
Eligibility Criteria
- MS/M.Phil degree with 06 credit hours thesis or equivalent in the relevant field from an accredited educational institution.
- Minimum CGPA of 3.0/4.0 (semester system) or 70% marks (annual system), and no third division (annual system) or ‘D’ grade (semester system) throughout the academic career.
- Valid admission test (GAT subject OR GRE subject) as per HEC policy with at least 60% marks.
- Interview assessment.
Degree Requirement
- Coursework (18 credit hours).
- Comprehensive examination.
- Thesis (09 credit hours, allowed only after completion of course work).
- At least one research article based on the PhD research work, as per HEC policy.
- Public defense.
