MS in Earth Sciences (With specialization in Applied Geology and Applied Geophysics)

The department offers the MS program that specializes in both Geology and Geophysics. Through a diverse scheme of study, the students are enabled to learn the advancements in specific subjects. They utilize their background knowledge and advanced understanding of the subjects to do their research work and writing of the MS thesis. The students are facilitated with highly qualified faculty and modern instrumentation to do research projects that help in community service and science. The department offers specialization in sedimentology, structural geology and tectonics, geochronology, geochemistry, petroleum geology, InSAR, Active tectonics, Paleoseismology, Landslides and debris flows, Engineering geology, hydrogeology and hydrogeophysics, earthquake seismology and exploration geophysics.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. A 16-year degree in the relevant field from an accredited educational institution, with a minimum First division (annual system) or CGPA 2.5/4.0 (semester system) and no third division (annual system) or ‘D’ grade (semester system) throughout the academic career.
  2. Valid admission test (NTS/GAT) with at least 50 score
  3. Interview assessment

Application and admission

At CUI admissions in graduate programs are offered on merit. The merit is determined on the basis if the academic record, GRE/NTS-GAT (CAT-C) score and interview.

Program Duration and Course Work Requirements:

  • The duration of the MS Program is 2 years.
  • Coursework (24 credit hours).
  • MS Thesis (06 credit hours).
