The Department of Earth Sciences at CUI Abbottabad offers 4-years Bachelor, 2-years Master, and 3-5 years PhD programs. The course work of these programs is designed to include maximum topics of applied geosciences with a focus on natural resources exploration, natural hazard assessment, engineering and environmental geology. Apart from university education, the Department of Earth Sciences arranges geological field trips in the Salt Range, Trans Indus Ranges, Hazara region and northern areas for a better understanding of the geological processes and their outcomes. Furthermore, the department offers a variety of specializations in Petroleum Geology, Sedimentology, Structural Geology and Tectonics, Neotectonics, Engineering Geology, Mineralogy, Petrology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Geology, Economic Geology, Applied Geophysics, and Geochemistry.
