Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering(CVE)

/    /  Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering(CVE)

Overview

The Civil Engineering Program provides the necessary technical skills in mathematics, basic sciences, engineering sciences, engineering design, humanities and social sciences consistent with accreditation needs of the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and national needs.
The Program of CIIT aims to provide critical learning for broad foundation in structures, environmental engineering, geotechnical, materials, water resources and transportation. Considerable emphasis is placed on group-based, open-ended design projects to provide students with the necessary skills for creative teamwork and to prepare them professionally for diverse employment opportunities. Preparation for professional practice and graduate studies is accomplished through careful selection of technical electives. The Civil Engineering Program provides conducive and stimulating environment to both students and faculty.

Application and admission

  • Intermediate or equivalent with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry with minimum 60% marks, or DAE in the same discipline of engineering with minimum of 60% marks from an accredited educational institution.
  • Valid NTS test score as per CIIT policy

Career prospects

There is a wide scope of Civil Engineering in today’s world. Following are few areas where Civil Engineers work:

  1. Coastal –Protect our beaches and coastal areas against flooding and erosion.
  2. Earthquake – Test structures to make sure that they can withstand earthquakes and are designed well to stop them collapsing
  3. Environmental – Finding new ways to protect our environment and work on wind farms, water purification, waste water treatment and solid waste treatment, air pollution, and hazardous waste management Structural – Design and build buildings, bridges, towers, flyovers, tunnels, as well as off shore structures like oil and gas fields in the sea .
  4. Transport – Ensure people and products move around the country quickly and safely. This could mean working on roads, canals, highways, rail systems, airports, and ports.
  5. Urban – Working in cities. Mainly to design, construct, and maintain the roads, sidewalks, water supply networks, sewers, street lighting, municipal solid waste management and disposal, storage depots for various bulk materials used for maintenance and public works (salt, sand, etc), public parks and bicycle paths .
  6. Water resources – Design and construct our water resources such as pipelines, water distribution systems, drainage facilities (including dams, channels, culverts, levees, storm sewers), and canals. Otherwise we will not have water when and where we need it.
